Saint Bernard

According to the AKC, male St. Bernards can grow as high as 28 inches with an average weight of 150 pounds. They are famous for their wrinkled brow, large head, and friendly expression. They can come in long or short hair and shed twice a year. This large breed does no require much exercise but loves doing activities with its owner. Early obedience training is important as their large size causes them to sometimes knock things over. Having originated in the Alps these dogs were sometimes used to rescue people buried in drifts and avalanches.
