Miniature Shar-Pei dogs are short and broad with wrinkles on the head and body. These dogs are alert, affectionate, and quiet and bond with their family, however, they are unfriendly to strangers. They require a confident handler otherwise they will take over so consistency is key. This breed needs early socialization and may refuse commands from family members who have not shown leadership over them. They are moderately active and do well in a yard. They are also heat sensitive so shade and water must always be available. These dogs slightly shed year-round.
